St. Mary’s Midwifery Training School Staff

To be recognized as a training center, the institution must have both trainers and trainees.

St. Mary’s Midwifery Training School currently has a staff of 20, and each staff member have specific roles to play in the running of the school. These roles depend upon the cadre and the levels of operation.

The Cadres and Level of Education

1.      Teaching Staff are composed of tutors and clinical mentors, and are mainly responsible for the training of students in both the school and clinical areas such as the Doctor Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital. The teaching staff level of education ranges from the lowest level of Certificate to the highest level of a Master degree. Quality teaching and how this is translated into practice in clinical areas is emphasized in their education process. Tutors and clinical mentors encourage students to demonstrate their ability to give quality service to women, babies, and patients.

2.    The Administrative Staff include the Principal, Deputy Principal, Chief Accountant, and Record Officer, and are responsible for the implementation of policies, financial management, and organization of records.

3.    Support Staff include the cooks, watchmen, drivers, and cleaners. They support the work of the teaching staff and administrators. Most of the support staff have no qualification stopping their education at the primary level. As a result, they learn their job according to the assignment given to them based on their own personal life experiences.
